About

Stuart Kurlander is a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins LLP. He focuses his practice on guiding emerging and mature companies through the complex landscape of the US healthcare regulatory system with a particular focus on reimbursement (i.e., coding, coverage, and payment) and market access strategies. He leverages his nearly 30 years of experience advising health care & life sciences companies, trade associations, private equity funds, venture capital firms and investment banks on health care reimbursement, fraud & abuse compliance and structuring, and other health care regulatory issues.

Mr. Kurlander also leverages his experience as an attorney in the Office of the General Counsel, US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Division, to advise on healthcare interests at all levels of government. His work has been recognized repeatedly by leading industry publications such as Chambers USA and The Legal 500 US.

Mr. Kurlander founded Latham & Watkin’s DC Health Care & Life Sciences Practice and led it for more than 12 years. Currently, Mr. Kurlander serves as Global Co-Chair of the firm’s Israel Practice, which advises Israeli health care & life science companies on reimbursement and regulatory issues. The firm has a strong practice which advises on cross-border business ventures, financings, and capital raisings for companies doing business in Israel.

Mr. Kurlander is also very active in global Jewish community affairs where he currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee and Board Member of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC or Joint). He is past president of The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington which includes Washington, DC, parts of Maryland and Virginia.
